On the afternoon of August 7th, President Tsai Ing-wen accompanied by Vice President Chen Chien-jen and Mrs. Chen, met with Saint Vincent and the Grenadines’s (SVG) Prime Minister, Dr. the Honourable Ralph E. Gonsalves and Mrs. Gonsalves, and accepted the credentials of new SVG Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Taiwan, Andrea Clare Bowman.
It is hoped that with SVG’s Embassy in Taiwan, our bilateral relations will only grow stronger. We look forward to Prime Minister Gonsalves’s continued support for Taiwan’s international participation, so that together, SVG and Taiwan can make even greater contributions to the common good.
Saint Vincent and the Grenadines’s first ambassador to Taiwan, H.E. Andrea Bowman has excellent academic qualifications and experience. She has served as the Headmistress of SVG’s Girls’ High School for a long time, and has been an educator for over 40 years. Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and Taiwan have been diplomatic allies since 1981.
Our countries’ cooperation and exchanges in all aspects are becoming closer and more diverse. In order to strengthen the relationship with Taiwan, SVG’s first embassy in Asia was established in Taiwan. This shows that the bi-lateral relationship between our countries has taken a concrete step and has been deepened.
The embassy will continue to extend the friendship and cooperation between our countries for the benefit of all of our citizens.
From 2001 to 2021, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines has staunchly supported the inclusion and participation of Taiwan’s 23 million inhabitants in the UN’s World Health Assembly. In 2017, the vociferous support of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines’s Minister of Health, Wellness and the Environment, the Honourable Luke Browne went viral as a result of its pertinence and resonance.
